Like i was in need for more distractions when I am so close to submission! Ah! the thought of it makes my heart race! Memories of the fun during last world cup will not fade easy :)
What fun it was.....
^ A few matches watched at the then favourite restaurant.... apna good old Vikings...
^ A few others at Hypnos (the staff would give me and Hasta knowing smiles when we would arrive) :) I even won Argentina jersey for answering 10 question related to football correctly :) (truth be told, Hasta prompted a few answers for me)
^ A few others in the guys hostel T.V. room because cable connection at Rohini Hostel was cut and the chanda was not collected in time for the world cup... resulting in poised women sitting amongst men, trying hard not to jump, yell, swear.....
^ One match watched along with "high spirited friends" in JNC guest house because the visiting hour at hostel was over! (according to some wise wo/men, who carefully laid down the hostel rules, it was too late for the opposite sexes to be placed in close proximity, guess it is a necessary evil in our society)
^ When all options were closed during ungodly hours, a swift hero honda passion took us all the way to golf course... to the most unimaginable place (for students living off 8k and 5k per month)... Le Meridian, :-p Believe me. We would pay for one drink each and sit in front of the so called big screen and watch the match, while one of the waiters would patiently rub dry the expensive glasses on the tables. While we cheered for Thierry Henry, the Air France crew members woke up the rest of the hotel, cheering for their team :) (the gunner jacket he was wearing got lot of eyeballs)
^ Finally, the chanda was collected and cable was back in rohini hostel...So, I watched the Italy- Germany semi- finals in the girls hostel with women screaming, yelling, going hysteric; Swati was drooling over her new found love- Michael Ballack, while another friend, Purbasha (from the same city as me where people swear by football.. even more than cricket) was yelling instructions to the Italian players... as italy won, rohini hostel T.V room turned into a battle field
^ Guess where I saw the finals? Ahmmm Microsoft Research, Sadashivnagar!! Yes
Oh! and this time the finals are going to be on July 11th he says :( my tentative colloquium date is 12/13th july!! O dear how will I concentrate? (like I care ;-p )
Anyway for now, here is the Official FIFA world cup 2010 anthem for all you football lovers. The starting beat is like it was flicked from a tamil song.... and I am louving it :)
